Mission

Knox Tech exists to connect and develop the local community of people who build, operate, and support technology-driven systems.

Our mission is to create a consistent forum for sharing practical knowledge, improving technical capability, and strengthening the connection between technology and real-world operations in Knox County and the surrounding region.

Knox Tech is focused on applied technology—not theory, not hype. It brings together professionals, students, and practitioners across IT, software development, engineering and automation, robotics and CNC, and electrical and industrial systems.

What to expect at a session

Each monthly session is structured to give you something useful to take home, someone valuable to meet, and ideas you can apply the next day.

Featured talk
A local practitioner shares a real implementation, what worked, and what they would do differently.
Lightning talks & demos
Short, focused show-and-tell from attendees on tools, projects, or recent wins.
Open discussion
Time to surface real operational challenges and get input from people who have solved them before.
Networking
Unstructured time to meet other technically-minded people in the region and build durable relationships.

Who should attend

If your work involves technology interacting with real operations, you will find value here.

  • IT professionals and system administrators
  • Software developers and engineers
  • Manufacturing and automation professionals
  • Technicians and trades working with modern systems
  • Students preparing for technical careers
  • Operators and managers responsible for complex processes

How we keep it valuable

Vendors, consultants, and sponsors are welcome—but the expectation is contribution over promotion. To protect the quality of the meetup, Knox Tech intentionally is not a purely social networking group, a beginner-only coding club, a sales or vendor pitch forum, or a theoretical lecture series.

Practicality first

We prioritize real-world experience over theory.

Contribution over consumption

Attendees are encouraged to share, ask questions, and participate.

Respect for all skill levels

From students to experienced professionals, all are welcome.

No sales pitches

Value comes first. Business opportunities follow naturally.

Sponsors

Knox Tech is supported by local organizations that value technical growth, workforce development, and operational excellence. Sponsors help provide meeting space, food, and the resources to grow the community. In return, they gain access to a network of technically capable individuals and a front-row seat to emerging needs and challenges in the region.

Long-term vision

Knox Tech aims to become a recognized hub for applied technology in the Knox County region—connecting local businesses with technical talent, students with career opportunities, and practitioners with real-world problem solving.

Over time, the group will expand into workshops and hands-on sessions, industry-focused discussions, and collaboration with local organizations and institutions.
